We thank the author of the letter for the critical review of the article.

Regarding the definition we would like to highlight that the definition stated by the author is already mentioned in the introduction of the article and also a brief review of literature is included regarding the various terminologies used and the reason for the change of these terminologies. These lesions though are not neoplasms; they are called as benign tumors in the sense that they sometimes produce a mass as is seen in our case. This was the reason why choristomas were earlier called as lingual osteomas. These lingual osteomas as has been pointed out by Vered M et al.[1] can behave like neoplasms or as choristoma. They further suggest that the term 'osseous' tumor-like lesions of the tongue to be used to refer to these bone forming lesions to avoid confusion. The various theories put forth regarding the pathogenesis of these lesions have been mentioned in the discussion.
