It is my pleasure to present before you the second issue of IJPM. I am greatly thankful to all my subeditors, editorial board members, and referees for their constant support and efforts in clearing the huge backlog.

Good original articles based on the genuine research work carried out in our institutes are the need of the hour to improve the quality and status of IJPM. As per the statistics of the journal for first 6 months of 2013, the ratio of original articles and case reports submitted to the journal is about 1:1.2, apart from various other articles like letters to the editors, images, etc. This ratio needs to be reversed. The number of case reports and letters should be limited to very rare and exclusive cases and more of original articles should be encouraged.

I have also observed in the last 6 months that most of the authors of submitted articles are postgraduates and/or junior consultants who usually submit total/or part of their MD theses without even looking at the instructions of the journal, leading to increased turnaround time and delaying the genuine and interesting articles. I once again request the seniors to help and guide the juniors and students in preparing the manuscripts.

There is no dearth of resources in our labs. Only proper planning, collaboration, and execution is required for good research and its publication in the form of original articles. I invite you all to give your suggestions for adding any new column or section in the journal.
