Dear Readers,
I am presenting before you the October-December 2017 issue of IJPM. This is the last issue that will be published under my editorship.
I'm immensely grateful to editorial board members and panel of reviewers for helping and supporting me in the preparation of various issues throughout the last 5 years since 2013. The number and quality of articles submitted has tremendously improved every year, making our task of selecting the best articles more difficult. It has also helped in increasing the impact factor of the journal. I hope my successor Dr. Ranjan Agarwal will carry forward it further.
Breast cancer is one of the important cancers in females, and a lot of work have been done in the last decade on genetic and molecular aspects. Neama et al. have studied alterations in topoisomerase II alpha gene in invasive ductal carcinoma.[1] Similarly, Sharma et al. have studied hypoxia-induced factor-1 alpha and vascular endothelial growth factor expression in BRCA1-related breast cancer.[2] With good prognostic and therapeutic responses in breast cancer, the molecular and genetic studies are now done in neoplastic lesions of almost all systems. Studies by Thakur et al. and Kaymaz et al. in this issue deal with genetic alterations in urothelial carcinomas.[3],[4]
Apart from neoplastic lesions, articles covering nonneoplastic lesions such as cardiomyopathy [5] and cystic hepatobiliary lesions [6] are also very informative and worth reading for postgraduates and young pathologists.
Rest of the articles are also interesting and include images, case reports, and letters on various aspects of different branches of pathology. It is not possible for me to cover all of them in my address, but I hope that all the articles will be of interest to our authors and help them in enhancing their knowledge.
With best wishes for Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year 2018.
