This book enlightens that irrespective of lack of preparedness for a pandemic, India fought back despite all odds. The situation was tackled successfully by following the norms of test, trace, and isolate. This “book of hope” reflects a developing country's fight against the deadly virus. For a better future, it deals with the strengthening of health care system in India. It would be helpful for all the readers in their day-to-day life experiences related to COVID-19. The issue of virus initially thought to be a seasonal flu turning into a pandemic has been nicely highlighted by the authors.

New words for the public vocabulary have been added such as “Quarantine” and “Namaste as a new handshake”. There are also discussions regarding the scenario in India just before lifting of the lockdown. Putting a light to the tunnel, it also deals with the increased mental health requirements and the emotional support required to be provided to those either suffering from the disease or their caretakers. The best part of the book is that the authors have enlightened women empowerment through female health care workers who also have been the front liners.

This book is all about “realization of inner strength and unity” in this tough times. This is so when people are losing all their hopes especially in diverse, highly populated country as ours, where healthcare infrastructure and services are highly challenging. Authors, all being doctors from different fields have tried to share their experiences during this pandemic. It covers about how and when our society has molded itself for a “new normal” lifestyle.

The last section “getting future-ready” gives us major goals for mitigation towards any disaster especially a pandemic strengthening the Indian health system, and a roadmap for staying healthy in the new viral-positive era. Authors provide “rays of hope” as they narrate in simplified words, proper scientific knowledge about the virus, its spread and treatment, challenges faced and, last but not the least it has solved a lot of queries relating to vaccine preparation and use of masks even after getting vaccinated.

Offering insights on how India continues to fight the pandemic, “Till We Win” is a must-read for everyone. It is a book for the public at large, political leaders, policymakers, and physicians, with the promise and potential to transform the dwindling healthcare system in India.
